Back in the day, childhood used to be a relatively stress-free experience for most children. Once upon a time, this carefree era included hours of outdoor play with neighborhood buddies, limited amounts of television, an education that included a healthy dose of the arts; and home-cooked meals that allowed most children to live free of the weight and health issues plaguing many of today’s youth.
Unlike their parents and grandparents, today’s child is faced with a world that includes high stakes standardized testing and a national obsession with social media, high tech gadgets, fast-food and destructive reality shows. Dreamcatchers’ founder, Pamella Reid, said that she created the organization to help children and their parents to learn natural remedies for thriving during a time that negatively affects many children’s self-esteem, academic performance and their health.
